It’s the end of an era at Michigan..

Red Berenson officially retired yesterday as the Wolverines’ hockey coach.

The 77-year old Berenson won 848 games in his 33 years at Michigan.

He led the Wolverines to the NCAA tournament 23 times.

Meanwhile, Michigan State has reportedly hired Danton Cole to become the Spartans’ new head coach in hockey.

The 50-year Cole is a former NHL player, who also was the head coach for two years of the Motor City Mechanics from the now-defunct United Hockey League.
