The Tigers improved their record to 5 and 2 on the season with a great win against the Minnesota Twins, in yesterday’s opener of a three-game series at Comerica Park.
They beat the Twins 2 to 1 in a real pitcher’s duel.
Matt Boyd got the win after he allowed just one hit over six innings while striking out 6 and walking two.
That hit was a single off the bat of twins’ DH Robbie Grossman in the top of the 6th inning.
Catcher James McCann drove in what turned out to be the game-winning runs with a two-run blast in the bottom of the 5th inning off twins’ starter Hector Santiago.
The series continues this afternoon at Comerica Park.
Kyle Fulmer will start for the Tigers and the Twins send Kyle Gibson to the mound.
The first pitch is scheduled for 1:05.
