College Hockey – Joe Shawhan Is Named MTU Hockey Head Coach

Joe Shawhan has been promoted to the head coaching job of the Michigan Tech hockey team, the university announced Tuesday morning.

Shawhan was an assistant coach at MTU for the past three seasons.

Shawhan replaces Mel Pearson, who left MTU to become the head coach at the University of Michigan.

Joe Shawhan is the 22nd head coach in MTU hockey history.

Shawhan was an assistant coach at NMU for six season before joining the MTU staff in 2014.
