Second baseman Robinson Cano smashed a pair of home runs – including a seventh inning grand slam off a struggling Francisco Rodriguez – to power the Seattle Mariners to a 9 to 6 win over the Tigers in last night’s finale of that four-game series.
This means that the Mariners have swept the series with the Tigers.
In fact; that loss is the sixth in a row – and 11th in the last 14 games for the Tigers……who now drop into last place in the Central Division, with a 32 and 40 record.
Daniel Norris started for the Tigers and he gets the loss.
Norris went 6 innings, giving up 5 runs on 5 hits, including one home run, while striking out 5 and walking 3.
Miguel Cabrera went 2 for 4 at the plate, with 2 RBI’s and 1 run scored.
The Tigers now go to San Diego to play a three-game weekend series the 29 and 44 Padres.
Game time tonight is 10:10.
