A nine-run seventh inning helped the Kansas City Royals to a 16 to 2 win over Detroit Tigers in last night’s finale of a three-game series at Comerica Park.
Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer drove in six runs to lead Kansas City’s offensive attack.
Anibal Sanchez was the starter and the loser for the Tigers, and infielder Andrew Romine was called on to pitch in the top of the 9th inning, when reliever Bruce Rondon was ejected from the game, after hitting the Royals’ Mike Moustakas in the back with a pitch.
The Tigers have the day off today.
Tomorrow the Tigers start a three game weekend series with the Houston Astros.
Jordan Zimmermann will start for the Tigers and Dallas Keuchel comes off the disabled list to start for the Astros.
Game time is scheduled for 7:10.
