MLB – The Tigers Beat The Astros – Then Make A Trade With The Cubs

Posted on July 31, 2017 in Professional Sports News.

The Detroit Tigers beat the Houston Astros 13 to 1 yesterday at Comerica Park.

Justin Verlander was the starter and the winner for the Tigers.

He went 6 innings, giving up no runs on 5 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 3.

Justin Upton had the big bat for the Tigers.

Upton was 4 for 5 with a grand slam and 6 total RBI’s with 2 runs scored.

The Tigers hit the road for a nine-game road trip starting with a 3-game series tonight in New York.

Michael Fulmer will start for the Tigers tonight and the Yankees will send out Luis Severino.

Game Time is 7:05

The Tigers made the first of what’s expected to be several deals before the arrival of today’s trading deadline in Major League Baseball.

They reportedly sent catcher Alex Avila and closer Justin Wilson to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for a pair of minor league infielders.

The left- handed Wilson – who has 13 saves and a 2.68 era this season – is expected to help out a Cubs’ bullpen that’s struggled to hold leads for most of the year.
