The Hematites were looking to advance in the playoffs over the Ironwood Red Devils in Ishpeming after their undefeated season.
In the first quarter Ishpeming punched in a touchdown with their first possession. The Red Devils coughed up the ball on the next possession and the Hematites took advantage of the chance and scored their second touchdown of the quarter with a quarterback sneak. Towards the end of the first quarter the Hematites found end-zone twice to go up 26-0.
The Red Devils turned over the ball twice and the Hematites capitalized to go up 40-0 by the end of the half.
Starting the second half with a running clock, the Hematites received the ball and with the first drive of the half found the end-zone. The Red Devils responded back with a long run to make the score 47-7. After a short Ishpeming punt the Red Devils show more life to punch another in the end-zone to stop the running clock. The ensuing kickoff Ishpeming fumbled and the Red Devils recovered and found the end-zone once again with that drive as the first play in the 4th quarter to make the score 47-21.
In the 4th quarter Ishpeming poured onto their lead with another touchdown. After the touchdown the Hematites ran the clock down for a final of 53-21.
Ishpeming will move ahead in the playoff and play the winner of the Norway/Macelona game in Ishpeming on either Friday or Saturday. It will be broadcast right here on 98.3FM WRUP at 7pm.
