The Texas Rangers completed the sweep of the Detroit Tigers by beating them 12 to 6 last night in Arlington.
Anibal Sanchez was the starter for the Tigers, but he left the game in the third inning with an injury.
Chad Bell relieved Sanchez and Bell took the loss.
Overall, 8 Tigers pitchers gave up 12 runs on 17 hits, striking out 10 and walking 4.
Ian Kinsler and Mikie Mahtook hit home runs for the Tigers.
The Tigers have today off.
They return to Comerica Park for a 3 game weekend series with the best team in baseball, the Los Angeles Dodgers.
And New York Yankee owner Hal Steinbrenner says that if the Yankees don’t make the playoffs this year the season would be a major disappointment and the team would be a failure.
The Yankees cling to a wild card spot while sitting 4 and ½ games behind the division-leading Boston Red Sox.
The Yankees are also currently spinning in the midst of a 7 game losing streak and are 64 and 55 so far this season.
