The college basketball world is in mourning today over the passing of the legendary Jud Heathcote, who died yesterday in Spokane, Washington at the age of 90.
Heathcote won three Big Ten titles and made nine NCAA Tournament appearances during his
19-year run as the head coach of the Michigan State Spartans, leading the school to an NCAA title in 1979.
Heathcote retired in 1995 and was replaced by his longtime assistant coach Tom Izzo, who’s been in the job ever since.
