MLB – The Detroit Tigers Trade Two Justins

Posted on September 1, 2017 in Professional Sports News.

The Tigers finally pulled the trigger on a trade involving Justin Verlander, sending the ace right-hander to the Houston Astros in exchange for three minor league prospects: catcher Jake Rogers, pitcher Franklin Perez and outfielder Daz Cameron.

The 34-year old Verlander won 183 games – and the 2011 Cy Young award – during his 13-year stint with the Tigers.

In addition, he was a fan favorite, consistently bringing near sell-out crowds to Comerica Park every time he pitched.

Verlander wasn’t the only ‘Justin’ dealt yesterday.

The Tigers traded outfielder Justin Upton to the Los Angeles Angels for minor league pitcher Grayson Long.

The 30-year old Upton – who can opt out of his current contract at the end of this season – led

Detroit with 28 home runs and 94 RBI’s this season.
