In New York, J.J. Hardy’s RBI double in the top of the 13th gave the Baltimore Orioles a 2-1 win over the Yankees in Game Four of their ALDS.

Nate McLouth smacked a solo homer in the fifth to help Baltimore dodge elimination and force a decisive Game Five at 5:07 p.m. Eastern on Friday.

In the National League, Buster Posey hit a grand slam during a six-run fifth inning as the San Francisco Giants held off the Cincinnati Reds, 6-4, in the decisive Game Five of their NL Division Series.

After falling in a two-games-to-none hole, the Giants reeled off three straight road wins to advance to the NLCS.

The Reds have not won a playoff series since 1995.

In the other NLDS, Jayson Werth led off the bottom of the ninth inning with a solo homer to give the Washington Nationals a 2-1 win over the Cardinals in Game Four.

Werth’s shot helped the Nats avoid elimination and force a decisive Game Five Friday night. First-pitch will be at 8:37 p.m. Eastern. The winner advances to face the Giants.
