Justin Verlander fired a four-hit complete game as the Detroit Tigers advanced to the American League Championship Series with a 6-0 win over the Oakland Athletics last night.
Verlander struck out 11 and walked one to help the Tigers win the best-of-five ALDS, 3-2.
Austin Jackson knocked in two runs and scored two more for Detroit, which advanced to the ALCS for the second straight year.
The Tigers will face either the Orioles or the Yankees in the ALCS.
Jarrod Parker allowed four runs over six-and-a-third innings to take the loss for Oakland, which had won two straight after falling into a 2-0 hole in the series. The ALCS begins Saturday night.
