The Detroit Tigers took a commanding three-games-to-none lead in the American League Championship Series with a 2-1 win over the New York Yankees last night at Comerica Park.

Justin Verlander gave up just three hits and one run in eight-and-one-third innings, allowing Eduardo Nunez to leadoff the ninth inning with a home run and giving way to Phil Coke after getting Brett Gardner to groundout.

Coke gave up two hits before striking out Raul Ibanez to end the game.

Delmon Young had a solo home run in the fourth inning and Miguel Cabrera hit an RBI double in the fifth.

Tonight, Max Scherzer will take the mound for Detroit in game-four, while New York counters with CC Sabathia. First pitch at Comerica Park is 8:00 p.m.
