The Detroit Pistons fell short in their season opener, losing to the Houston Rockets 105-96 last night at the Palace of Auburn Hills. Brandon Knight led Detroit with 15 points, Greg Monroe added 14 and Tayshaun Prince had 12.
James Harden scored 37 points for the Rockets in his Houston debut. Harden is the first player in NBA history to score 30-plus points and get at least 12 assists in his first game for a new team.
Jeremy Lin, also making his first appearance in a Houston uniform, scored 12 points, eight dimes and four steals.
The Pistons begin a six game road trip tomorrow night against the Suns in Phoenix.
