Emeralds(26) VS. St. Ignace(37), Manistique Football – Friday, 10/24/2008

Manistique Finishes 6 – 3

The Manistique Emeralds, playing without seniors Terry Martin (knee) and Dustin Demers (ankle) came out quickly here in St. Ignace Friday night putting up two 1st quarter scores to lead 14 – 0 after one. Then the rain started, and when it rained, it poured for the Ems as they totaled six fumbles, two of which lead to two Saints scores to trail 34 to 20 at halftime.

In the second half the Emeralds played better defense only allowing the Saints a 35 yd field goal. However the Saints defense was just as stingy and the Emeralds could only manage one second half score, and after a failed two point attempt, the contest ended with the Saints on top 37 – 26.

Josh Mickelson threw a 61 yard TD pas to WR Garde Kangas, and Brad McBurney was the Play of the Game for Manistique. Both teams, who had all ready qualified for the state playoffs, await the selection draws on Sunday to see what division they will play in and who their opponent will be.

What happened to the good reports that we are used to seeing from the Emeralds reporter. The above “comment” is pretty boring!!
