Detroit Red Wings Play Tonight in Anaheim – NHL Playoffs Roll On

Posted on May 8, 2013 in Professional Sports News.

The Detroit Red Wings and the Anaheim Ducks continue play in the Western Conference quarterfinals tonight in Anaheim.                  Start time is 10:00 p.m.

Monday, Detroit tied the best of seven series 2-2 after Damien Brunner scored in overtime to lift the Wings to a 3-2 win.

The teams will return to Joe Louis Arena for Game Six.

The San Jose Sharks are the first team moving on to the next round in the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Sharks completed a four-game sweep of the Vancouver Canucks with a 4-3 overtime victory on Tuesday.

As the sixth-seed, San Jose will wait for its next opponent until teams are re-seeded going into the next round.

Elsewhere in the Western Conference, the Chicago Blackhawks got a 3-0 victory over the Wild in Minnesota. That gives the Presidents’ Trophy winners a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven set.

In Eastern Conference action, the Ottawa Senators jumped out to a 3-1 series lead by beating the Montreal Canadiens in overtime, 3-2.

The New York Islanders were able to pull even with the top-seeded Pittsburgh Penguins by winning 6-4. That series is now tied at two games each.

On Wednesday, a pair of crucial Game Fives take place in the Western Conference.

The Blues clash with the Los Angeles Kings in St. Louis while the Ducks host the Detroit Red Wings in Anaheim.                   Both of those series are tied at two games apiece.

In the Eastern Conference, the New York Rangers host the Washington Capitals and will try to even their series at two games each.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are faced with the same task as they welcome the Boston Bruins.
