The Anaheim Ducks Win – The NHL Playoffs Roll Forward

Nick Bonino scored nearly two minutes into overtime to lift the Anaheim Ducks to a 3-2 win against the Detroit Red Wings in Game Five of their best-of-seven Western Conference quarterfinals last night.                                                                  The Ducks are up 3-2 in the series.

Kyle Palmieri and Ryan Getzlaf scored in regulation for Anaheim.

Johan Frazen and Mikael Samuelsson both scored for the Wings.

Detroit hosts Game Six on Friday. Jimmy Howard made 31 saves in defeat.


The defending Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings defeated the St. Louis Blues 3-2 in overtime of Game Five in their best-of-seven Western Conference quarterfinals.

The Kings are now up 3-2 and one win away from advancing.

In The Eastern Conference, the Boston Bruins beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 in overtime to take a 3-1 series lead. The New York Rangers clipped the Washington Capitals 4-3 to even the series at 2-2.


Tonight the Ottawa Senators look to knock off the second-seeded Montreal Canadiens.

The Senators have won two straight in their Eastern Conference quarterfinals to push the Habs on the brink of elimination.

The Chicago Blackhawks are also looking to advance in their Western Conference quarters as they hold a 3-1 lead over the Minnesota Wild.

The Pittsburgh Penguins host the New York Islanders with their Eastern quarterfinals knotted up at 2-2.
