MLB – The Seattle Mariners Take Game 3 From The Detroit Tigers – Magic Number Drops

The Detroit Tigers were shut out by the Seattle Mariners 8-0 last night at Comerica Park.

Justin Verlander was charged with the loss, giving up three runs on four hits while striking out six in seven innings.

Seattle pitchers held Detroit to four hits as the Tigers stranded 13 men on base.

The Tigers magic number to clinch the A-L Central is at five, with ten regular season games to play, after the Indians lost to the Royals 7 to 2 last night.

 

In this afternoon’s series finale, Doug Fister (12-9, 3.76 ERA) gets the nod for the Tigers, while the Mariners counter with James Paxton (2-0, 0.75 ERA).

First pitch is set for 1:08 p.m.
