MLB – Tigers Lose – Magic Number Stays at Two

Conor Gillaspie scored three times and knocked in two runs as the Chicago White Sox doubled up the Detroit Tigers 6-3 at Comerica Park yesterday afternoon.

Anibal Sanchez gave up four runs in five innings for the loss.

Alex Avila was 3-for-3 with a run scored for Detroit, which is five games up on Cleveland in the AL Central, and their magic number to clinch the AL Central is at 2.

Prince Fielder hit a solo home run in defeat.

 

The Tigers are at the Twins for three games starting tonight.

Game time is 8:10 p.m.

Justin Verlander (13-12, 3.66 ERA) took the mound for Detroit, up against Mike Pelfrey (5-13, 5.34 ERA) of the Twins.
