The Detroit Tigers’ 2013 regular season ended Sunday on a down note to say the least.
The Tigers not only lost, but failed to get a hit as Miami Marlins pitcher Henderson Alvarez threw the fifth no-hitter in team history and the Marlins won 1-to-0.
It’s the first for the franchise since Anibal Sanchez — now with the Tigers– no-hit Arizona in 2006.
Luke Putkonen took the loss in relief.
The 93-and-69 Tigers will begin the playoffs Friday in Oakland.
