Miguel Cabrera, J.D. Martinez and Torii Hunter each had three RBIs, while Ian Kinsler, Nick Castellanos and Eugenio Suarez all batted in two runs.
Starter Drew Smyly got the win, giving up four runs on eight hits while striking out two in six and two third innings, as the Tigers won their third-straight game.
The Tigers now lead the Royals by five-and-a-half games in the AL Central.
Tonight, Anibal Sanchez gets the nod for Detroit and Kansas City counters with Danny Duffy.
First pitch is 8:10 p.m.
Tigers Pitcher Rick Porcello came in third in the All Star Final Vote.
White Sox starter Chris Sale won the final spot on the American League roster and Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo took first place in the National League Final Vote.
The Tigers will be represented in the all star game by first baseman Miguel Cabrera, designated hitter Victor Martinez and pitcher Max Scherzer.
The All-Star Game will be played Tuesday night in Minnesota.
