MLB – The Detroit Tigers Win Rubber Match Against Diamondbacks

Miguel Cabrera hit a three-run home run in the eighth inning to help the Tigers to an 11-5 win over the Diamondbacks yesterday afternoon in Arizona.

Austin Jackson drove in three runs with a double, and Alex Avila also had three RBIs.

Anibal Sanchez worked four innings of scoreless ball, but ended up giving up five runs on 11 hits while striking out four in six and one third innings.

Detroit opens a four game series with the Angels in Los Angeles tonight.

First pitch is 10:05 p.m.

Max Scherzer gets the start for the Tigers, while Garret Richards will take the mound for the Angels.

 

Closer Joakim Soria is heading from Texas to Detroit.

The Rangers have traded Soria to the Tigers in exchange for right-handed pitchers Corey Knebel and Jake Thompson.

Soria is 1-and-3 with 17 saves and a 2.70 ERA in 35 games this season with the Rangers.

The 30-year-old right-hander has 177 saves and a 2.51 ERA in 359 career games with Kansas City and Texas.
