J.D. Martinez homered three times and drove in six to power the Detroit Tigers to a 12-4 win over the New York Yankees yesterday afternoon in the Bronx.
Victor Martinez also went deep and drove in four to help Detroit salvage the finale of the three-game series.
Anibal Sanchez threw seven innings of three-run ball to improve to 6-and-7.
Stephen Drew drilled a pair of solo homers for the Yankees, who had won their previous four.
Masahiro Tanaka allowed five earned runs and 10 hits in five innings.
The Tigers visit the Cleveland Indians tonight for a three-game series.
