MLB – The Cubs Beat The Pirates – They Now Move On To Play The Cardinals

Jake Arrieta (air-ee-ET-uh) threw a four-hitter to lead the Cubs to a 4-0 win over the Pirates in the NL Wild Card game in Pittsburgh.

In his first playoff start, Arrieta matched Kerry Wood’s team postseason record with 11 strikeouts.

The NL Cy Young candidate walked none in the 113-pitch performance.

Kyle Schwarber smacked an RBI single in the first and a two-run homerun in the third for Chicago.

Dexter Fowler added a solo shot in Chicago’s first playoff win since 2003.

The Cubs will battle the Cardinals in Game One of the NLDS tomorrow.
Houston Astros take on the Kansas City Royals tonight in Game One of their best-of-five American League Division Series at Kauffman Stadium.

Collin McHugh starts for the Astros. He went 19-and-7 with a 3.89 ERA during the regular season.

The Royals start Yordano Ventura, who is 13-and-8 with a 4.01 ERA.

Houston is making their first playoff appearance since reaching the World Series in 2005.
The Texas Rangers battle the Toronto Blue Jays in Game One of their American League Division Series this afternoon at Rogers Centre.

Yovani Gallardo (guy-ARE-doh) will start today for Texas. He went 13-and-11 with a 3.42 ERA during the regular season.

David Price takes the mound for Toronto. He went 18-and-5 with a 2.45 ERA between Detroit and Toronto and is a leading candidate for the AL Cy Young Award.
