Super Bowl week is officially underway in the Bay Area.
It formally kicked off with the NFL’s “Super Bowl Opening Night” extravaganza Monday at the SAP Center in San Jose, California.
It replaces the old Tuesday morning Media Day that annually took place during Super Bowl week.
Players and coaches from the AFC champion Denver Broncos and NFC champion Carolina Panthers addressed questions from thousands of reporters at the home of the NHL’s San Jose Sharks.
A sold out crowd was on hand to take in the festivities, including watching the interviews on a giant video board.
Game highlights were shown as individual players were introduced on stage, which also included a giant replica of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge.
