Tigers manager Brad Ausmus has announced Justin Verlander will start on Opening Day.
Ausmus said yesterday that unless something unforeseen happens, Verlander will take the mound when Detroit opens the season with Interleague Play in Miami April 5th.
He started seven straight Tigers openers before former starter David Price got the nod for Opening Day 2015.
Verlander missed the first two months of last season with a triceps strain.
Pitchers and catchers report to Detroit’s facilities in Lakeland, Florida tomorrow.
