Home runs from Miguel Cabrera, Justin Upton and Andrew Romine powered the Tigers to a
12 – 0 win over the Cleveland Indians last night at Comerica Park.
That victory – coupled with Baltimore’s 5 to 1 loss to Toronto – now leaves the Tigers just a game behind the Orioles in the battle for the final wild card spot in the American League.
Justin Verlander was the starter and he threw a great game.
He got the win after giving up no runs on four hits while walking one and striking out 12 over his seven-plus innings of work.
Kyle Ryan pitched one and one third innings in relief, striking out one, and giving up no runs.
The series continues tonight at Comerica Park tonight.
Michael Fulmer will start for the Tigers and the Indians will send out Zach McAllister.
Game time is 7:10.
