In one of the closest votes in Major League Baseball history, the Tigers’ Justin Verlander lost out to the Red Sox Rick Porcello by just 5 points for this year’s American League Cy Young Award.
Amazingly, two writers left Verlander completely off their ballots…..a move that would lead to the Tigers’ ace falling short in winning the Cy Young.
Over in the National League, former Tiger Max Scherzer won his second career Cy Young Award.
He beat out the Cubs’ Jon Lester.
