Iron Mountain and Marquette tie 1-1 in First Soccer Game of the Season

Iron Mountain, MI – August 28, 2020 – The Iron Mountain Mountaineers went head to head against the Marquette Redmen in an exciting first game of the 2020 soccer season.  The Iron Mountain and Marquette boys varsity soccer teams opened their soccer seasons and played to a 1-1 tie Thursday night in Iron Mountain.

After a scoreless first half, Iron Mountain scored one minute in on a deflected shot that was initially saved by Marquette keeper Liam Jeevar.  Marquette sophomore Max Dawson knotted the game at the 24 minute mark on a penalty shot.

Marquette travels next to Escanaba to play Thursday, September 3rd.

“We had a lot of chances to score throughout the game but missed out on those opportunities. Iron Mountain gave us some things to work on and we will get to it” – coach Dan Salmon.
