Posted on June 7, 2017 in Professional Sports News.

Home runs from Kole Calhoun and C.J. Cron powered the Los Angeles Angels to a 5 to 3 win over the Tigers in last night’s opener of a mid-week series down at Comerica Park.

Left- hander Daniel Norris took the loss.

He gave up 4 runs, 3 earned, on 5 hits while striking out 7 and walking 3 over six innings.

Alex Avila hit his 9th home run, a solo shot, in the sixth inning.

Alex went 2 for 4 and scored 2 runs over all.

That loss ended a four- game winning streak for the Tigers, who now fall a game below the .500 mark for the season.

Game two of the series is tonight.

Buck Farmer will get the start for the Tigers and the Angels will send out Alex Meyer.

The first pitch is scheduled for 7:10.

It was an historic night for Cincinnati Reds’ second baseman Scooter Gennett

He became the first player in baseball history to get five hits and drive in 10 runs in a single game when the Reds drilled the Cardinals 13 to 1 last night,.

Four of Gennett’s five hits were home runs.

Gennet became the 17th player in MLB history to hit 4 home runs in one game.
