A gorgeous Indian Summer as one of the biggest games of the weekend, perhaps the year, takes place at Miners Stadium as The Negaunee Miners, 3-2 in the Mid Pen, 4 &-2 overall, host the unbeaten 6-0 Ishpeming Hemitites, 5-0 in the Mid Pen, in Football action.
Ishpeming took the opening kickoff, and seemed to move the ball well, but the Hemitites turned over the ball to Negaunee after 2 downs. Ishpeming scored on their 2nd possession on a long bullet pass on the fly by Ishpeming QB Dan Olson, and took an 8-0 lead midway through the opening period to open the nights scoring.
Defense and the running game kept both sides working hard until late in the 1st half as Negaunee moved the ball down the field, as Miner RB Tyler Bowmont punched in from 3 yards out with 3:42 left in the half to make it 6-0, missing the 2 point conversion to tie the game.
