BARK RIVER — Pro 4 off-road racer Johnny Greaves took his first win of the Traxxas TORC Off-Road Championship season Sunday at the Bark River International Raceway. The defending 2010 champion made it look easy.

“I just wanted to get a fast clean start,” Greaves said. “I felt I was fast enough to hang in there and even wait it out if I had to.”

After a brief scuffle with Adrian Cenni who turned sideways in the first turn, Greaves says it was a clear track.

Mike Jenkins placed second Sunday in the Pro4 race. Ricky Johnson took third.

Greaves almost had his first win Saturday but suffered mechanical problem on the last lap that kept him off the podium with a place 4th place finish. Johnson, who is the points leader in the Pro 4 division, won Saturday.

When a rock hit Greaves’ radiator, Johnson was in position to pull ahead. He took the checkered flag along with Mark Jenkins and Scott Douglas.

Bryce Menzies also overcame mechanical problems Saturday that had been keeping him off the podium with a Pro 2 win.

“We started in the front row and came around turn three and I lifted my visor off and a rock slashed me in the eyes. It took me a little bit to get my eyes cleared and come back. We were in third and we just fought our way back to first at the yellow and then just held our pace from there,” Menzies said.

He says the track was torn up during the race and tough on tires.

Jeff Kincaid took an early lead in the Pro 2 race Saturday but eventually the rest of the field caught up.

“We had a light come on. We don’t know if we got a little hot in the oil so I was kind of backing down a little bit but once I knew in the last couple of laps that I could run with it and it was still going I said let’s go for it,” sad Kincaid. “We’re tickled. I’m happy to be back here in second.”

CJ Greaves took first in Pro 2 Sunday after a 5th place showing Saturday. He also came away with a 3rd place win in Pro Light Sunday after coming in at the back of the pack on Saturday.

“Keegan Kincaid and Matt Cook where just going at it and I was just sitting there being the jack rabbit waiting for the mistake. They both got together and I took them both at the same time and here we are,” CJ Greaves said of the 3rd place finish.

Andrew Caddell came from behind in the final lap of the Pro Light Sunday to beat Brad Lovell.

“This truck was just unreal this weekend. Yesterday we had a little bad luck with a tire going down,” Caddell said.

The win kept Caddell on top of the division after an 11th place finish Saturday. Luke Johnson won the Pro Light race Saturday.

The races at the Bark River International Raceway this weekend was round 9 and 10 on the Traxxas TORC Off-Road Championship. The track is operated by the Bark River Lions Club. The next races will be held at Crandon, Wis., Sept. 1-2.
