Prince Fielder hit a two-run homer in the top of the eighth inning to lift the Tigers to a 2-1 win over the Twins on Sunday, putting the Tigers in the drivers seat as they eye a post season bid.

Fielder’s 30th of the season came with two outs off losing reliever Jared Burton. Twins’ Starter Liam Hendriks threw seven shutout innings in a no-decision.

Phil Coke got the win for Detroit and Jose Valverde his 34th save.

The Tigers took two-of-three at Target Field and moved three games ahead of the White Sox atop the AL Central with three games to play.

Pedro Florimon singled in Minnesota’s lone run in the seventh.

If the Tigers win one game in the next three games or the White Sox lose one of their next three games…the Tigers are division champions.

The Tigers play Kansas City Tonight at Kaufman Stadium. Game time is 8:00pm

It was the Tampa Bay Rays 6, Chicago White Sox 2 yesterday The White Sox are home tonight against the Indians. Game time is 7:30.
