On the American League side, the Oakland Athletics moved into a tie atop the West Division with the Texas Rangers. The winner of today’s matchup takes the West.

Oakland was 13 games out of the division lead on June 30th.

The Yankees are one game up on the Orioles in the East after surviving in extra innings against the Red Sox.

The O’s came away with a 1-0 win against the Rays and can force a one-game playoff with the Yankees if the teams were to tie for the division.

In the National League, the St. Louis Cardinals have locked up the final postseason spot.

Despite losing on Tuesday, the Cards still clinched the final National League Wild Card spot after the Dodgers lost to San Francisco.

The Atlanta Braves will host St. Louis in the newly-created Wild Card Game.

The Cincinnati Reds and Washington Nationals are tied for the best record in the NL, but the Nats hold the tie-breaker.
