Cardinals beat Giants in NLCS

Carlos Beltran hit a two-run homerun during a four-run fourth inning as the Cardinals held off the Giants, 6-4, in Game One of the NLCS.

David Freese hit a two-run homer in the second to help the defending World Champions take the opener of the seven-game series.

Edward Mujica was credited with the victory.   Jason Motte earned the save.

Gregor Blanco hit a two-run triple for the Giants, who had won their last three playoff games.

Madison Bumgarner allowed all six runs in only three-and-two-thirds innings to take the loss.

The Giants will host Game Two today.
