The Detroit Tigers lost Game One of the World Series to the Giants, 8-3, last night in San Francisco.

Justin Verlander was charged with the loss, giving up five earned runs on six hits while striking out four in four innings.

San Francisco’s Pablo Sandoval was 4-for-4, and hit home runs in his first three at-bats, including two off of Verlander.

Detroit’s offense was quiet until MIguel Cabrera drove in a run in the sixth inning and Jhonny Peralta hit a two-run shot in the ninth.

The Tigers try to even the best-of-seven series tonight, sending Doug Fister to the mound against Madison Bumgarner, who gets the start for the Giants.    First pitch is 8:07 p.m.
