Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland will reportedly return to manage the club next season.

The “Detroit News” is reporting that the 67-year-old skipper will manage an eighth season in Detroit after taking the Tigers to the World Series this season.

He also took the Tigers to the World Series in 2006 and has gone 607-and-528 in his tenure with Detroit.

Tigers catcher Alex Avila and center fielder Austin Jackson are finalists for the 2012 Golden Glove award.

Avila is up against Yankees catcher Russell Martin, the White Sox A.J. Pierzynski and the Orioles’ Matt Wieters.

Jackson is joined on the list for the honor by Adam Jones from the Orioles and Mike Trout from the Angels.

The winners of the awards will be announced tonight.
