MSU and U of M men’s basketball in action

Keith Appling had 22 points, seven assists, five rebounds and three steals to lead No. 15 Michigan State to a 74-70 win over Boise State last night at the Breslin Center.

Denzel Valentine had 12 points while Branden Dawson and Adreian Payne chipped in with 10 points each for the Spartans (3-1), who will face Oakland on Friday.

The fourth-ranked Michigan Wolverines are back in action tonight when they take on Pittsburgh in the semifinals of the NIT Season Tip-off Tournament.

Tip-off at Madison Square Garden in New York is 9:30 p.m.

The 3-and-oh Wolverines are coming off last weeks 77-to-47 win over Cleveland State to advance to the semifinals.

If the Wolverines win, they will play the winner of Kansas State and Delaware in the finals on Friday.
