The Number-three Michigan Wolverines defeated number-18 North Carolina State, 79-72, in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge last night behind 18 points and 11 assists from Trey Burke.
All 18 of Burke’s points came in the second half.
Freshman Nik Staukas paced the Wolverines with 20 points and four three-pointers, while Tim Hardaway Jr. added 16 points.
Michigan improved to 6-and-0 with the victory at the Chrysler Center.
C.J. Leslie posted 18 points and 10 boards in the loss. T.J. Warren scored 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting for the Wolfpack, who dropped to 4-and-2.
The 13th-ranked Michigan State Spartans are back on the court tonight when they travel to take on Miami of Florida in the ACC/Big Ten challenge. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m.
The Spartans (5-1) are coming off Sunday’s 63-to-60 win over Louisiana-Lafayette to win their fifth-straight game.
