The San Diego Padres are bolstering their bullpen with the addition of former Detroit Tigers veteran reliever Joaquin Benoit.
Reports say that the 36-year-old right-hander has agreed to a two-year deal worth 15.5-million-dollars, pending a physical.
Benoit converted 24-of-26 save opportunities after taking over the closer’s role for the Detroit Tigers last season.
He posted a 2.01 ERA in 66 appearances.
Benoit is 44-and-35 with a 4.11 ERA and 37 saves in 12 seasons overall.
