Phil Dawson kicked a 33-yard field goal as time expired, and Colin Kaepernick threw for 227 yards and ran for another 98 to lead the San Francisco 49ers past the Green Bay Packers 23-20 on Sunday night in a frigid NFC wild-card game.
The temperature at kickoff was five-degrees with a wind chill of negative-10.
Mason Crosby’s 24-yard field goal tied it at 20 for the Packers (8-8-1) with 5:06 left before the 49ers’ final drive.
Aaron Rodgers was 17 of 26 for 177 yards and one touchdown. Eddy Lacy had 21 carries for 81 yards and Jorday Nelson caught 7 passes for 62 yards and a score.
San Francisco will travel to Carolina to face the Panthers next Sunday.
The Chargers, Colts and Saints are all moving on to the divisional round of the NFL playoffs.
The Chargers outscored the Bengals 20-0 in the second half to pull out a 27-10 win in Cincinnati.
San Diego advances to face the Broncos in Denver in the second round next Sunday.
