Darren Helm scored the winning goal in the sixth round of the shootout as the Detroit Red Wings edged the Chicago Blackhawks 5-4 at the Joe Louis Arena last night.
Tomas Tatar and Patrick Eaves scored a goal each in the first period, while Kyle Quincey and Gustav Nyquist both scored in the second for the Wings, who have won two-of-three.
Jonas Gustavsson stopped 31 shots in the victory.
Marian Hossa , Andrew Shaw, Patrick Sharp and Marcus Kruger all scored for Chicago, who had won its previous two.
Corey Crawford made 27 saves but allowed three goals in the shootout for the loss.
