A late-inning rally by the Tigers fell short as Detroit suffered their first loss of the season, 5-4 to the Pirates in Pittsburgh yesterday.
J.D. Martinez hit a two-run home run as the Tigers scored three times in the ninth and Ian Kinsler and Miguel Cabrera each picked up an RBI as Detroit dropped their record to 6-and-1.
Anibal Sanchez was charged with the loss .
He gave up five runs on eight hits, including three home runs, while striking out nine in six and a third innings.
Tonight, Detroit sends Shane Greene to the mound while Pittsburgh counters with A.J. Burnett.
