NHL – The Detroit Red Wings Take Game One

Luke Glendening’s shorthanded goal early in the third period held up as the Detroit Red Wings edged the Lightning 3-2 in Game One of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series in Tampa.

Pavel Datsyuk opened the scoring in the first period and then scored on the power-play in the second for Detroit, who takes a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Petr Mrazek made 44 saves in the victory.

Brian Boyle scored shorthanded in the first, while Nikita Nesterov pulled the Lightening within one with 11:34 left in the third period.

Ben Bishop allowed all three goals on just 14 shots in defeat.

Game Two is Saturday.
