Duffy struck out seven while giving up just one run on seven hits as he moved to 2-and-0 with the win.
Rajai Davis singled in the only run in the eighth inning for Detroit, who is 2-and-2 on this10-game road trip.
Alfredo Simon gave up six runs in four-and-a-third innings to suffer his first loss and fall to 4-and-1.
