Alfredo Simon served up a solo home run to Kolten Wong in the sixth inning as the St. Louis Cardinals edged the Detroit Tigers 2-1 at Busch Stadium last night.
Miguel Cabrera had an RBI double in the first inning for Detroit, who were looking for a three-game sweep.
Lance Lynn pitched into the eighth for St. Louis.
With the loss, the Tigers remain a game back of the Royals for first place in the Central Division.
Detroit returns home to open up a three-game series with the Milwaukee Brewers tonight.
First pitch is 7:08 p.m.
Kyle Lobstein will get the start for the Tigers, up against Mike Fiers of the Brewers.
