MLB – The Detroit Tigers Lose In 14 Innings

The Detroit Tigers lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-4 in 14 innings Tuesday night at Comerica Park.

Starter Justin Verlander gave up three runs, two earned, while walking five and striking out three in six innings of work.

Tom Gorzelanny was tagged with the loss, giving up one run on two hits after he was called in to get the final two outs in the 14th.

J.D. Martinez sent the game to extra innings with a two-run homer in the eighth, while James McCann and Ian Kinsler each batted in runs.

Tonight, Alfredo Simon goes to the mound for Detroit and Pittsburgh will send out A.J. Burnett.

First pitch is 7:08 p.m.
