MLB – The Detroit Tigers Hang On To Beat Seattle

The Detroit Tigers hung on to beat the Seattle Mariners 5-4 Wednesday afternoon.

In his Detroit debut, first baseman Jefry Marte hit an RBI double and a solo home run.

Nick Castellanos batted in two runs and Jose Iglesias had an RBI.

Starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez picked up the win, giving up four runs, three earned, on five hits, while issuing five walks and striking out six in six and one third innings.

Joakim Soria notched his 19th save of the season.

The Tigers begin a four-game series against the Twins in Minnesota tonight.

First pitch is 8:10 p.m.

In the opener, David Price takes the mound for Detroit and Minnesota sends out Mike Pelfrey.
