Price struck out eight while giving up just two unearned runs in eight innings as his record goes to 9-and-2.
Joakim Soria closed it out for his 20th save.
Yoenis Cespedes added two hits and an RBI for the Tigers, who have won five of their last seven.
Trevor Plouffe and Torii Hunter each drove in a run in the fifth inning for the Twins, who had won their previous three.
Mike Pelfrey permitted all four runs in seven-and-two-thirds as his record slipped to 5-and-6.
The Tigers and Twins play game-two of their series tonight at Target Field.
