The Detroit Tigers gave up six runs in the fourth inning of a 9-3 loss to the Baltimore Orioles Sunday afternoon at Comerica Park.
Justin Verlander got chased early, giving up eight hits and seven earned runs over three-and-two-thirds innings to take the loss.
Five relievers finished the day for Detroit.
Yoenis Cespedes, Anthony Gose and Jefry Marte each drove in runs as the Tigers lost the rubber match of the three-game set.
The loss dropped the Tigers to 45-and-46.
They are now 10.5 games behind Kansas City in the AL Central, four-and-a-half games behind the Astros in the Wild Card race.
The Tigers continue their homestand with a four-game series against the Mariners.
